Join us this Friday, 12.4.2009 at 7:30pm, for a private screening of the short film, “We,” directed by Carl R. Jaeger.

“We” is the story of two men trying to put their marriage back together. Unsure why Adam left him in NY more than three months earlier, Sam has flown across the country to San Francisco to see if they can make their relationship work. It is clear that they love each other, but is love enough? Once certain choices are made, can they be undone? Planning a few days drive across the country to spend some much needed time together, will they be helped or hindered by what they find in the middle of the country? In the end, will their friends
and family support them?

As many states across America struggle to make room for gay marriage,
“We” explores a few days in the lives of two men struggling to be
together.

Several talented artists have agreed to let “We” use their music to tell this story. The funds raised at this work in progress screening will be used to defray the cost of music in the film.

If you have already donated to the film in some way, please come join us as our guest. For all others, there will be a $10.00 door charge. Wine will flow freely, and the well drinks and beer will be discounted for our event.

Let’s tell this story together.

Come join us for another night of great House music at the legendary Endup as m.deep and Motion Music bring you “Winding Rhodes!” Sunday December 6th will mark our second official Motion Music event as we again bring you a party like you’ve never seen before in San Francisco. Don’t miss this special night in which we welcome four Motion Music artists from all over the country to get you movin on the dancefloor.

Peter Christianson is one half of the LawnChair Generals. The LawnChair Generals have countless hits since their first EP, “The Great Escape” became an instant classic back in 2002. Their tracks have been licensed to over 20 different mixed CDs and compilations and DJs all over the world seem to always be eagerly awaiting their next release. This night proves to be extra special for Peter and Motion Music as we celebrate the release of Dave Miller & Kelly Hayden’s “Winding Rhodes EP,” in which Peter’s LawnChair Generals remix is featured. Peter’s remix of “Take What You Want” has been causing quite a stir lately amongst the top DJs in the land and we’re very excited to have him come play for us!Just like the last Motion Music event, we attempt to tie it all together and bring you DJs/producers you may not have seen before but are part of the Motion Music family. This time we bring you 3 up and coming producers, each of whom has had a release on the label in the past year.

Lucas Keizer, out of Houston has established himself over the past few years as a definite name to watch with releases on top labels like Tango and Kolour Recordings and we’re quite excited to welcome him to San Francisco for the first time!

Another rising star in the world of house music, Nonfiction seems poised to establish himself further in the upcoming year. 2009 has been a huge success for Nonfiction with releases on top notch labels like Lost My Dog, Robsoul, and Gene Farris’ label Farris Wheel. He is a resident at the famed Focus party in Orange County, and his aptly named “Orange County EP” on Motion Music came out a few months back and received accolades from DJ Heather and Diz to name a few.

Another guy to keep your eye on is Neil G of Los Angeles, California. His debut release “Far Back,” came out on Motion back in March and definitely established Neil as a rising star. Keep your eye on Neil G, as 2010 sees him teaming up with Luke Alan as “Left Minded,” and a scorching hot release signed to the legendary Paper Recordings.

Rounding out this amazing lineup will be Endup’s very own Resident DJ and MM label owner, Greg Yuen. Aside from label duties, Greg will be joining Motion Music’s roster of producers for the first time on Dave Miller & Kelly Hayden’s “Winding Rhodes EP.” He has teamed up with Evan Rhodes to drop a remix of Dave & Kelly’s “Give Love,” that is sure to round out the release in proper style.

Artistic expression has been a central focus in Onionz’s life almost since birth. His father, Victor Venegas, a latin jazz icon, played the upright bass alongside Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz in the 1970’s and early 80’s. Before reaching age ten, Andrew was appearing onstage with his father’s band in front of thousands in New York City, a mere child playing percussion with amazing artists such as Dave Amram, Candido, Steve Berrios, Paquito DeRivera and childhood friend Adam Cruz.

Transitioning to electronic music, Onionz picked up his first turntables in 1982. His early gigs were characterized as legendary nights and early mornings at almost every NYC venue imaginable. As a producer, he has released over 100 songs and remixes over the last 15 years, and tours the globe regularly, lighting up dance floors in over 30 countries (and counting). His status on the decks is a lock while his deep understanding of sound and musically creating an emotion has awarded him international recognition in the world of electronic dance music.

Join Onionz at the legendary Endup Thursday, July 23rd for a journey of musical bliss.

MOZAIC is one of the most diverse DJ’s of the Bay Area! It is amazing how he combines so many unique sounds and yet never looses the groove . . . and is constantly keeping the dance floor guessing as to what he might throw down next. He is one of those “no-boundaries” and “no-rules” DJs that reminds you why dance music is FUN! We cant wait to hear him on the Endup’s sounds system this Thursday - and hopefully you are just as excited as we are!

MOZAIC’S BIO: DJ/vocalist/producer hailing from San Francisco. On any given weekend, if he’s not behind the decks (he played over 100 gigs during 2008), you’ll likely find him on the dancefloor, which is what makes the 10-year veteran a dancer’s DJ. Mozaic has built a reputation on solid mixing and fearless genre-hopping: tech-house, techno, broken beat, 2-step, midtempo and dub all find their way into his arsenal- sometimes within a single set. Recently, you also may have seen/heard Mozaic’s collaboration with EPROM, Hookerz & Blow; they’ve been laying waste to dancefloors up and down the West Coast with their live dj/laptop sets, and had recent remixes rinsed by everyone from Basement Jaxx to Jesse Rose to Annie Mac.

Lee Coombs Bio:
Bending boundaries and ignoring the status quo – where would the Breakbeat scene be today without Lee Coombs. For over a decade this British producer has been at the forefront of it all; releasing groundbreaking mix CDs, remixing the world’s most acclaimed artists and knocking out dancefloor destroying productions that are considered classics years after their release.

A seasoned veteran, Coombs first hit the DJ slopes in 1989, bathing himself in the acid house scene at parties around London and Cambridge. Crucial in shaping his all-encompassing approach to DJing and production, this boundary-less approach would become Coombs’ trademark, mixing up breaks, house, electro, techno and acid with dexterous assurance.

When he is not in the producers chair, Coombs regularly tours all corners of the globe and is a bona-fide fans favourite throughout Europe, the USA, Australia, Asia and of course the UK. His popularity has also ensured his repeat appearance at infamous festival ‘The Burning Man’ in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.

In an industry that’s so often governed by trends and fads, Coombs’ unwavering ability to simultaneously destroy dancefloors and push musical boundaries almost 20 years since he first touched a pair of turntables is a remarkable achievement in itself. With plans to further spread his production wings to writing music for film and TV, as well as producing bands, there’s little doubt that his impressive sonic skills will be rocking ears for many years to come.

Opulent Temple Vision :: 2009
For the unexposed, the Opulent Temple started as a Large Scale Art & Music theme camp at the annual Burning Man arts festival that takes place in the Black Rock desert of Nevada the week before Labor Day. We throw nightly parties showcasing underground, world class electronic dance music in a setting of art and creation we’ve made ourselves. Our community and fund raising events are based in San Francisco, and though our production is associated with the BM event, we will be taking it to other settings.

The Vision of the Opulent Temple is to gift a space for sacred dance to world class dance music. It is our intention to create the space for peak experience, community development, and inspiration that serves as a road map for what’s possible in the so called ‘default world.’ The effort is self generated by the tribe, ie., no one gets paid to create our production. On the contrary, key members put a lot of their own time, effort, and sometimes money all year around to to bring it back every year.

It’s not just about partying.
It is our view social change will not happen without the individual elevation of our collective spiritual center of gravity. Thus, it is our responsibility to nudge our own evolution to catch up with the outpaced growth of technology without the soul getting left behind. It’s within this community of creative seekers that coalesces around the playa tribes that leaders must emerge to help steer this nation and this world towards a better day.

To create a space for Sacred Dance is to create a playground for connection with the Eternal, but in our case, still infused with the need for social action in the real world. Big beats and community are the launching point for insight to remind us there is a point to evolution. Transcendence, and nothing less. It might sound like hippy New Age shit, but in this case that doesn’t mean it isn’t true…

The Musical Vision:
We’re obviously firm believers in the beat, the transcending properties of mind blowing electronic dance music (EDM), both to open the heart and make the ass shake depending on one’s preference and the moment. We value diversity in the range of world class artists that play our camp, as well as the camp dj’s who build it so get to play what they feel. Most nights are fairly cohesive unto themselves, but day to day it can be all over the place. Our past line ups speak for themselves.

We’ll see you in the sweet spot, under the stars…

We can’t believe it but, yes, [KONTROL] is celebrating its 4th anniversary this Saturday (June 6, 2009)! And to celebrate this milestone, [KONTROL] and The Endup is bringing you from Jena, Germany, Wighnomy Brothers (Freude am Tanzen | Musik Krause).

Robag Wruhme and Monkey Maffia, known collectively as The Wighnomy Brothers, are best friends, label owners, production partners, and one of planet Earth’s most entertaining and sought-after DJ teams. Known for their remix-heavy, vodka-soaked extended sets, the delightful duo from Jena, Germany have traveled the globe far and wide rocking parties and festivals, but thanks to their distaste for a certain ex-President of ours, they have refused to play the US. Until now. We simply adore these guys and without question, they have held a slot near the top of our “most wanted” list since we first sought out on this colorful voyage. Thus, it is with great pride and pleasure that [KONTROL] celebrates four years of bringing forward-thinking techno and house to San Francisco with a four hour set by the inimitable, incomparable, and absolutely unmissable Wighnomy Brothers in their exclusive West Coast debut.

Eddie is resident at NYC’s Alegria at Crobar as well as at the Roxy.

We are so excited to have Eddie here at The Endup’s Ghettodisco for the first time. Please join us tomorrow (June 5, 2009) for an extended afterhours set by Eddie along with our own DJ Hawthorne and Adrian.
